    We supply AIR & WATER Purification systems throughout Qld.
Tank water needs to be Sterilized before use as there may be bacteria & or Viruses present.

There is a guide from the Australian Government detailing quantities of Chlorine to use.
Of course this makes the unacceptable to many people.
You may choose this method and then use a Carbon Filter to get rid of the Chlorine Taste & Odour.
However there are a Number of other Options available.

Our reccommendation is to use a combinatuon Ultra Violet Disinfection Sytem.

1)You could use a Silver impregnated Carbon Filter.

2.) CF-CC. Ceramic Carbon Block 'Cyst' Cartridge
Ceramic and Carbon Block Filter rated for Cysts Moulded Ceramic Carbon Cartridge, 0.5 micron Absolute, excludes Cryptosporidium and Giardia Cysts and ideal for rainwater tanks.

3)CF-RD-CB. Extruded Carbon Block Cartridge. Sub Micron Carbon Block Filter Sub-micron (0.5 micron) Extruded Carbon block with Lead Reduction to suit standard 10" housing. Excellentreduction of Chlorine/ Chemical/ Chloroform/ Pesticides etc. Cyst rated for Cryptosporidium and Giardia.

4)CF-CC-.5 Ceramic Carbon 0.5M. Ceramic Carbon Filter
Ceramic Premium Candle to suit Faucet mounted units

Here are the Ultra Violet Options.

(Stage 1) The sediment filter is used to remove particles such as suspended solids, hair, dirt, rust, etc. These cartridges do not remove taste and Odours.
(Stage 2) Then a Cabon Block Filter (to trap bad Tastes &Odours) as well as any herbicides & Pesticides that may have Blown onto your roof.
(Stage 3) Then UV Disinfection (99.99% Bacteria kill)

Where efficient disinfection is needed, or you're unsure that other methods have been effective.

Are concerned about the many water-borne diseases that are around, e.g. Typhoid, Cholera, Hepatitis etc.

Concerned about bacteria (E coli, Shigella Sonnei) that can cause debilitating dysentery, stomach disorders

DUV. Dual Under-Sink. Ultra Violet Disinfection System Disinfection systems for almost total bacteria kill 99.997% (Laboratory tests available.
Stage 1.) The first stage housing contains a cartridge that works as a pre-filter to reduce sediment, fine iron, scale and other suspended matter down to a 5 Micron rating. This protects the second stage from premature fouling and improves its efficiency.
Stage 2. ) The second stage is for chemical reduction and is effective on chlorine and other foreign tastes and odours as well as reducing organic chemicals, pesticides and other contaminants Stage 3.) The final stage is UV Disinfection.
Also available with 20" Housings.

TUV Triple Under-Sink Ultra Violet Disinfection System. Disinfection systems for almost total bacteria kill 99.997% (Laboratory tests available.

Here are the Ultra Violet Options.

GWF-CC. Introducing the Genie “Crystal Clear”. The ideal installation to provide valuable protection from dangerous chemicals and impurities found in the normal water supply. Suitable for both rural and town application.
The filter system consists of two reinforced polypropylene housings with a combination of poly wound 5 micron and 1 micron sediment removal cartridges. This coupled with the ultraviolet disinfection system for the safe and simple control of bacteria and other micro organisms. Rain water collection and storage is typical in many rural applications, with delivery to usage via a pressure pump. The quality of water in terms of mineral/chemical content is naturally good, however there is always potential for biological contamination. Faecal matter due to birds, possum, etc., on exposed roofs and guttering are likely to contain pathogenic organisms. If tested, this water would be reported as containing “faecal coliform” and this is totally unacceptable for a water supply. The most efficient method for treating this is filtration followed by Ultraviolet disinfection. Specifications
